Lee View
Situated in a small rural hamlet of just a few houses, on a hill with spectacular scenery. We have tried to make the cottage a home from home with everything you'll need.
Ideal for walkers and cyclists, as well as those wanting to visit the many historic sites and country houses in Northumberland.
Lee View is just a 10 minute drive from Rothbury with a Co Op and a variety of other shops. We are 25 minutes from Morpeth and Alnwick.
Please note- there are no walkable pubs or shops.
The space
An open plan layout, a modern and comfortable design with wooden flooring. Downstairs there is a smart tv and dvd, a radio with iPod dock and Super fast Broadband. The kitchen is fully fitted and appliances include - a Samsung washer dryer (clothes line outside), an induction hob, microwave oven, a coffee machine and a fridge with small freezer compartment, a separate small freezer is available for use on request. Heating is electric radiators and underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom.
Upstairs is a comfy king bed and free view television. There is a large powerful walk in shower in the en suite and toiletries are provided for our guests. The bathroom floor is heated and there is a heated towel rail. The views from upstairs are lovely.
Outside is private parking and a patio area with a pergola over for your sole use. It gets the sun in the afternoons and is a great place to sit out, relax and enjoy the panoramic views.
At night with a clear sky, the stars are amazing, you will be able to observe the milky way and we have been fortunate to see the Northern Lights several times from our hilltop position since living here.
There is a Dark Skies Park at Kielder Forest, allowing people to observe the stars at the observatory unobstructed by light pollution(1 hour 15 minutes away) Booking is essential.
We are very central for exploring the county. Recent guests have visited Holy Island, Bambrough castle and Seahouses, Alnwick Garden , Cragside (National Trust) in Rothbury, Wallington (National Trust) about 25 minutes from here.
Enjoy a boat trip from Seahouses to see the Puffins in April/May and June, you may see seals and porpoises too.
There are a variety of very good restaurants within an easy drive, including Lollo Rosso in Morpeth, an Italian which is our favourite (booking essential).
The area is fantastic for keen cyclists, as it is challenging and very varied. There are routes from our doorstep. Bikes are available to hire locally. We also have storage for your bikes (bring a padlock).
The nearest beach - Druridge Bay is 30 minutes by car.
If you enjoy walking, there are many routes from your door including a lovely walk along the railway to Rothbury where you can stop for coffee and home made cakes before walking home again.
The traditional music scene is very strong locally. The Queens Head Pub in Rothbury host live music as do the other pubs in the village.
We are 45 minutes from Newcastle with it's famous bars, pubs, clubs and entertainment venues.
Parking is private and secure.
Please be aware that you will need to drive to our local shops and pub as they are not within walking distance.
The closest place for petrol is Thropton, which is a 5 minute drive on from |Rothbury. The supermarket at the petrol station is well stocked, with a good range of fresh food. There are also petrol stations at Alnwick (35 minutes) and Morpeth (30 minutes)
Why not get a food delivery when you arrive. if you fancy some cycling while you're here, we have a new electric bike company in Amble called Pedal Power Cycle Hire who take bookings from 4 hours to 2 weeks. All bikes come with pumps, padlocks, repair kits and helmets. You can even hire a tandem!

The house is yours to use as your own. We live next door and are on hand should you need us.
Other things to note
There is now a petrol garage and Spar in Thropton which is approximately 15 minutes away should you need to re fuel.
