• Modern Bathrooms: Clean, elegant, and well-maintained, with all necessary amenities to refresh and unwind after a day in nature.
• Wood Burner & Heat Pump: Stay warm year-round with a cozy wood burner and a heat pump to generate hot water at any time.
• Fully Equipped Kitchen: Includes modern amenities and a washing machine, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay.
• Wildlife: Experience seasonal visits from local wildlife, including birds, monkeys, porcupines, snakes, and deer, while being protected by the house’s fenced perimeter and window nets.

• Outdoor Kitchen & Firepit: Prepare meals al fresco in the traditional outdoor kitchen or enjoy an evening by the firepit.
• Local Chef Included: Enjoy delicious local cuisine, with fresh vegetables from our organic garden, prepared by an included local chef.
Practicalities:
• No Wi-Fi, Fast Mobile Internet: Fast internet is easily accessible on phones, tablets, or PCs via personal hotspots. SIM cards with mobile data can be obtained at the airport or local phone shops. There is no Wi-Fi as the house is intended as a low-tech zone for those wishing to take a break from the usual flood of information.
• No TV: For a fully immersive retreat into nature, the house is TV-free.
• Child Policy: Children under 3 stay free. For children aged 4-15, the charge is £35 per child, and for guests aged 16 and older, the full price applies.
Transport Options:
We can arrange comfortable transport for you from Kathmandu to Pokhara:
• By Plane: 25-minute flight.
• By Tourist Bus: 6 to 8 hours (buses run daily at 7 am).
• By Car or Jeep: You decide how many breaks you want.
For more adventurous travelers, public transport is also an option. A local jeep runs twice daily from Pokhara to Tanchowk, or you can take a bus from Pokhara via Lumle.

By staying at Mahakaruna you will be supporting Purna’s long-term community project, Garden in the Himalayas in nearby Tanchowk. This organic flower and vegetable garden sustains many rare endemic species that help to diversify the local diet and also provide an educational and conservational focus for the local community. With its little temple of Kanchi Barah, the goddess protector of the village, it is a haven for birds and a truly magical spot.
