The Red Shed

Welcome to Springfield Deer Farm and the Red Shed

Nestled beneath the majestic Great Western Tiers on the northern edge of Tasmania’s Central Highlands, our free-range farm offers the perfect escape to reconnect with nature and enjoy the serenity of rural life. Whether you’re here to explore the many local attractions and food producers, meet our free-roaming deer, or simply unwind and relax we’re confident you’ll find what you’re looking for.

The Red Shed Accommodation

Our beautifully converted three-bedroom barn is equipped with all of the modern comforts and conveniences, including a well appointed kitchenette, split system air-conditioning & heating and lovely Tasmanian-made bathroom products to name but a few features. There is one generous King bedroom with ensuite bathroom and two queen bedrooms with a shared main bathroom. There is also a queen-size foldout sofa in the lounge allowing the property to sleep 8 guests in total. The light and airy living and dining area look out towards the front fields of the farm that are dotted with deer and a number of stunning hundred year-old trees. This charming retreat offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and we are sure you will enjoy the personal touches and peaceful vista.

The Deer Experience

Our enchanting deer roam freely throughout the farm and may wander near your accommodation during your stay. While they’re naturally curious, we encourage you to enjoy their presence quietly and from a distance. Loud noises or sudden movements may startle them. They especially love hiding in amongst the rocks and longer grass down on the flat or the heather and shrubs towards the rear of the property.

Stargazing Delight

On clear nights, the sky above the farm transforms into a breathtaking spectacle. Be sure to wrap up in one of our cozy blankets and enjoy the stars from outdoors - it’s a view you won't want to miss!

Add-Ons to Enhance Your Stay

We are very happy to arrange light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and/or a continental breakfast sourced from our many wonderful local producers. We also have a fantastic outdoor BBQ kitchen and dining area complete with fire pit which is available to hire. Please enquire if you would like to add any of these options to your stay.

Important Information for Your Stay

Working Farm Safety: For your safety, please remain on designated paths and roadways while on the property. Detailed safety guidelines will be provided - please review this carefully before your arrival.

Gate Access: Our farm is entirely free-range with a large perimeter fence enclosing the 130 acre property, minimal internal fencing and one main gate located at the head of the driveway. It is important that this gate remains closed and secured at all times to keep our herd of deer safe from predators and to stop them from roaming into neighbouring farms. If you have any issues at all with the gate please don't hesitate to contact your on-site host for assistance.

Fire Safety: Due to generally dry conditions in this part of Tasmania, we request that guests please refrain from smoking on the property where possible.

Utilities: Please note the majority of our water is fed from a natural spring in the mountains behind the farm. While it is filtered and perfectly safe for showering and cleaning your teeth etc we recommend using the bottled water provided for drinking. We greatly appreciate mindful use of the water and energy onsite to help us preserve these resources.

Book your escape today and experience the natural beauty of Springfield Deer Farm firsthand. We look forward to welcoming you soon! 🦌
