Guests love a surprise. Some basic food provisions will absolutely delight your Search and Stay holiday rental guests — when they’re not expecting it. It is important that quality and thoughtfulness are there.

Filling the food cupboard with no-brand tinned spaghetti or no-frills cereal won't impress or help anyone.
For many Search and Stay holiday rental guests the food provisions that you provide will be very much enjoyed and appreciated them. This just improves the holiday rental experience and makes guests feel welcome.
It is always important to consider any laws governing how food can be provided so make sure you’re complying with them.
It is important to think about what feels right for your Search and Stay holiday rental, your target market and your budget. A sensible estimate of a budget is up to 10% of the revenue from a minimum stay. For example, if you charge $500 per night and have a two-night minimum, then consider a budget of up to $100, as 10% of $1000, for amenities and consumables. From there, decide what food provisions appeal to you and what also represents the holiday experience in your particular destination and showcases the local area. For example, if your area is known for its
olive orchards - then that would be an obvious low-cost inclusion or if it's a dairy farming area maybe some local cheeses.

Obviously many guests love a bottle of wine. Even if they don't drink that particular wine it's a welcome gesture and a big winner. If you are in or near a wine region perhaps provide a bottle of local red wine during the cooler months and white wine in the warmer. If there is a local brewery you can mix it up by providing a local beer or two.
Maybe provide a cheese plate with one cheese, a dried fruit bowl and dip along with crackers for them to have with the wine.
Fresh milk in the fridge, fresh butter in individual serves and a selection of jams and conserves to go with a loaf of fresh and preferably locally made artisanal bread.
A selection of breakfast cereals and granola in the pantry and a tub of fresh yoghurt and a few eggs will round out a pretty comprehensive continental breakfast selection.
Some cookies and a fruit bowl with an assortment of fruit, would be very popular with your Search and Stay holiday rental guests.
If there is a special event or reason for staying that you're aware of, then this may offer some ideas. Like a bottle of champagne for a romantic weekend or some blocks of chocolate for a girl's weekend.
Don't forget the basics like salt and pepper, tomato ketchup, oil, pasta, rice and basic herbs and spices. Butter, milk and eggs are always helpful. Also toilet paper (enough for the stay), tissues, paper towels and serviettes will be nice for them too.
Remember that 'less is more' - you are not required to stock the pantry for your guests this will only be an inconvenience to both yourself as a holiday rental owner and your guests, just add enough provision to make your Search and Stay holiday rental guests stay more convenient and make your guests feel welcome in you vacation home.
