Gone are the days when Search and Stay holiday rental guests were happy with a lucky dip of amenities in your holiday rental or mix and match offerings in your holiday rental kitchen, bits and pieces to use in the bathroom. There are many essential items that holiday rental guests have come to expect and there also those items that if you include for your guests in your Search and Stay accommodation they will be pleasantly surprised.
1. Coffee Machine and Coffee
Coffee and a coffee machine are no longer considered a luxury. You'll be hard pressed to find a vacation rental guest who wouldn't expect or at least appreciate a coffee machine and coffee in your holiday rental kitchen. Pod coffee machines don't have to be expensive but your choice of coffee machine and coffee will depend on your target market, your budget and your available space. If you don't have space, time or management capacity for a pod coffee machine, a good plunger and some fresh, ground coffee beans will do. Don't forget to leave instructions in your Search and Stay holiday rental on how to use anything that's more complicated than 'boil water'.
2. Teapot and Loose Leaf Tea or Good Quality Tea Bages
It might have been years since you've made a pot of tea with loose-leaf tea but it is often time and convenience as lead to using the tea bag - but if you are on holiday and have time to make, brew and sit and enjoy your tea - a teapot might be in order. Failing that, don't stinge on the tea bag quality nothing worse than cheap tea bags.
3. Dishwasher and Dishwasher tablets
There was a time when a dishwasher was almost unheard of in a holiday house - two hands, detergent and a sink was an easier and cheaper alternative. But dishwashers simply make a boring task, Easier. Cleaner. Faster. And let's face it spending half your time chained to the sink during your time off can really take the shine off your holiday rental stay. And don't forget the dishwashing tablets to make the dishwasher usable. As a general rule, think about two per day your guests are staying, but maybe add more if your Search and Stay holiday rental accommodates more than 4 adults.
4. Water - Mineral, Bottled or Simply Chilled
Everyone appreciated a long cool drink of water, especially after a long day of travel. Offer your guests some mineral or bottled water on their arrival in the fridge they will appreciate it. If you'd prefer not to create more landfill then simply fill a just of fresh tap water and put it in the fridge when they arrive. A water filtering jug is a good way to do this safely and easily.
7. Kitchen Air Tight Containers
I could say Tupperware containers, but you know what I mean. A few air tight containers in your pantry will be a blessing for those foods that your guests haven’t finished yet and want to have at a later time. It’s a truly useful thing when you are catering your own vacation and we always overindulge at these times. Generally, food storage containers are missing from most Airbnb.
8. Cling Wrap, Baking Paper, Alfoil
At some point on holidays, guests will search your holiday rental kitchen hoping to find one of the three wraps: cling, alfoil or baking paper. Imagine their delight when they actually find them.
9. Mixing Bowls
The chances are your guests will be whipping up a culinary delight or two during their stay. A couple of mixing bowls will earn you serious points and they are useful for so many things - baking cakes, making salads or even just serving up chips.
10. Serving Trays/Platters
Entertaining and barbeques are a staple on vacation. A couple of serving trays or platters will go down a treat and please your guests no end by making life in your Search and Stay holiday rental as easy as it is in their own homes.
11. Sandwich Press
A sandwich press will delight your guests seeking quick and easy comfort food. A toasted sandwich maker or sandwich press makes it when they want to rustle something up quickly to enjoy in your Search and Stay holiday rental.
12. Pots and Pans
A pot capable of boiling a baby’s bottle and a medium-sized frying pan are Search and Stay holiday rental essentials. Going the extra mile for your guests would be to add a couple of saucepans and frying pans. Ideally, 2–3 saucepans (small, medium and a large or pasta pan) and one small and one large frying pan preferably with lids.
One of the main reasons guests choose holiday rentals over hotels is so they can cook and prepare their own food. So best to make sure your holiday rental guests have all the necessary equipment to do this and truly enjoy their Search and Stay holiday rental, this only means that they come back for more.
