Where we are
You’ll love this charming pet friendly farm stay located on the bank of the Campaspe River. After a cooked breakfast, wander in the gardens, feed the farm animals, or stroll along the river banks.
Help feed the goats, sheep, chickens and ducks and collect the eggs for breakfast. The river is full of fish if fishing is your thing. We are only 5kms from Heathcote Raceway, minutes from Knowsley Flight School and we are the half way point on the O’Keefe Rail trail which is the perfect spot to stop for the night if you are riding the trail.
We are also only 20 minutes from Bendigo & Heathcote & 15kms to Lake Eppalock
The space
The River Gardens Homestead is a 133 acre off the grid working sheep and goat farm. Set in nearly 2 acres of spectacular gardens with water features and right on the banks of the Campaspe river, guests are ensured of having a restful holiday.
The unit is under the farmstead roofline but is totally self contained with its own entrance. Only the laundry is a shared facility.
Guests who are looking for more action can easily visit both Bendigo and Heathcote as both towns are just a 20 minutes drive from River Gardens Axedale or take a 15km trip to Lake Eppalock to swim, waterski or fish.
While pets are welcome please note they must be kept on a lead to protect our livestock and the pet fee must be paid or you may be refused entry.
Guest access
Guests have their own entrance to their rooms, which includes a kitchen with double gas hot plates, oven, full size fridge, microwave and coffee machine and their own ensuite with walk in double shower.
There is a split system heating/cooling unit and a fan.
Guests are encouraged to explore the 133 acres of the farm including over 400 metres of Campaspe river frontage and approximately 2 acres of spectacular manicured gardens
Access to the rest of the house is not permitted.
Other things to note
We are totally off grid with solar power, tank water and septic sewerage system.
Please try to be mindful of this and to keep showers short, and to turn off lights, air conditioning etc. when not needed.
We also try to provide produce from our own farm for breakfast.
Finally, as septic is quite fussy, please only flush toilet paper down the toilet. There are bins provided in the bathroom for everything else.
Thank you in advance for respecting our space,
Wendy and Mark
